Bandai 1/100 HG Gundam Wing Zero Custom

Old kit just gathering dust in my workshop. Decided to build it as my brother's birthday gift. Just out of the box build and turned into a semi-fixed posed.

Bandai MG Wing Gundam Zero TV Ver.

Latest commission project and first build of this year. Its a Master Grade Wing Gundam Ver. Ka by Bandai + resin conversion parts (Wing Zero TV Ver.). Painted with Gaianotes lacquer paints and Tamiya & Testors enamels. Bandai, Samuel decals & G-options Aurora film were also used for additional  details. This is probably one of the hardest scale models I've build due to the fact that the resin parts are recasted,  therefore most of the parts does not fit properly requiring a lot of trimming and modifications. The surface quality is also quite poor that it took me several coats of primer and sanding/re-sanding. The small details are also obscure that you have to replace it with after-market parts (Kotobukiya MSG's). There is also an issue of paint lifting after masking even though I already used Mr. Resin Primer. But overall it was a decent and challenging convo kit to work on. Im also digging the sexy proportion of the kit. A friendly advise to everyone who might like resin kits or conversion parts. Get the original cast, it might be more expensive but it has a higher quality and will save you time and effort when you build it. :D

Bandai HG00 1/144 GN-005 Gundam Virtue

Done with my 1/144 Gundam Virtue from Bandai. This model will be under the "customized model kits for sale" of Team Renegade Modeling Services. Very impressive kit especially for a 1/144th scale, assembly is quite easy with minimal seams that needs to be sealed. Well-balanced and can be pose fairly. My only gripe is the lack of details which I think becoming standard with Bandai's 1/144 releases. Since I love the proportion of the kit, I did not made any drastic modifications. I just added a couple of details (panel lines, plastic rods and decals from Bandai & Samuel) to improve the overall look of the kit. Fully painted with Gaianotes lacquers, panel wash with Tamiya enamels.

Bandai MG MS-07B-15 Gouf Custom

My latest build, its a Master Grade Gouf Custom from Bandai. Did a couple of modifications to improve the proportion such as shorten the snout, widen the torso area, the shoulders were also bulked up, dropped the crotch-thigh joints, widen the thigh armors, extended the front crotch armor & widen the front and rear skirts. Minor detailing was also done. Changed the color into a greyish scheme. Weathered using pastels and oils. Kudos to my friend KKK for sharing "Texas Colony's" work as reference.

HobbyBoss 1/72 F-16C Fighting Falcon

This is my 2nd aircraft build, improved a little bit compared to my first attempt which is the A-10, but still needs a lot of practice. Painted with Gaianotes lacquers, pastels for the wash and weathering, I want the finished model to be a bit dirty like its a workhorse with lots of flight time. I also messed up the back part of the canopy (fogged by spilling thinner) that's why I opted to just paint it. Not that historically accurate, sorry to all flyboys out there. Pardon the photos, its a bit grainy, cant get the right settings for my cam this time.

Bandai EX Model YMT-05 Hildolfr

Another commission work out of the way. Just finished this 1/144 EX Model Hildolfr. Quite interesting model kit, half tank half mecha. Assembly's fairly simple and got great details. The usual OOTB, changed the scheme into a bluish-green color as requested by the client. Waterslide decals are also provided which is good since the kit is pretty pricey. Painted with Gaianotes lacquers, wash with Tamiya enamels, filters done using Artist's Oils and pigments for the dust effect.

As of posting time, most (90%) of the dust effects were already removed (good thing I didnt apply any fixative on the pigments). The client finds it to be a bit too weathered for his taste.

Bandai UCHG 1/35 FF-X7 Core Fighter

My latest build & commission work. Probably my last build of the year too. Its a 1/35 UCHG Core Fighter from Bandai, also a Ver. GFT which I think has a nicer set of waterslide decals compared to the usual hardgraph version. Its an OOTB build with a G3 (gray) color scheme as requested by the client. Also decided to give some subtle shading and highlights just to give some depth to the monotonous scheme. Its a very nice model kit to build and paint, assembly is perfect as expected & not much sealing is needed. My only advice/caution to other modelers out there who will also build this is to be a bit careful on the enamel wash, some parts gets brittle easily after the exposure to enamel thinner/paint. Aside from that its a must have kit!

Happy Holidays!

Bandai MG MS-18E "Kampfer"

My longest reigning shelf queen is done! It’s an MG Kampfer from Bandai. Took me some time to finish this due to on and off progress. I made some modifications on the proportion since I find the OOTB kit to be a little fat/bulky for my taste. First is I extended the waist for about 2.5mm, same with the crotch area. Also did some armor trimming to expose some of the internals especially on the torso area. Reshaped the medial and lateral leg armors. Added some after-market parts (round molds & o-bolts), styrene rods/strips and panel lines to give additional details. Color scheme was retained coz' I still want to preserve the original look except for the red shoulder armor which I got the idea from the Ifreet Custom.

MG Kampfer before painting.

Bandai NG 1/100 GN-001 Exia

Here's my latest build, its a 1/100 NG Exia. I also used the works of A2 Crafts and Ewac Zone as reference. My goal here is to give the kit some details to be a bit closer to its MG counterpart. Here are some of the WIP photos;

- Addition of panel lines.

-Extended the neck joint by 2mm.
-Lowered the peg connecting the thighs and waist, reinforcing it with a copper wire and plastic sheets.

-Pre-painting modification of the thighs.
-Hollow parts filled with epoxy putty then sanded.
-I also used Wave's O-bolt on the torso for added details.
-Sharpen the weapons.

Bandai 1/35 UCHG M61A5 Main Battle Tank “Semovente” Phantom Element

Here's the 3rd and final kit of the commission builds I took. Also my first Hard Graph model kit from Bandai. As a fan of armour kits I find this one very impressive specially the perfect fitting and good amount of details. My only gripe is the quality of plastic is far compared with other brands that produce military kits such as Tamiya, Trumpeter and Dragon, which more resistant to enamel thinner or turpentine.

About the build... primed with Mr Surfacer 1000 and painted with both Gaianotes and Mr Color lacquer paints. Pinwash applied using Tamiya enamels. Filters and Colour variation was done using Artist Oils. Dusting was also achieved using powdered pigments. Honestly I find the whole build a bit clean for my taste. If it was up to me I like to add more weathering (larger chippings, rust and mud) but the client only wants a subtle amount of it.

With all 3 commission builds done, I can finally proceed and finish my own kit which is already 2 years old in the making due to on & off progress.

Dragon 1/16 Unterscharfuhrer Figure (Modified)

Well, here's my first attempt on figures... Its a 1/16 Unterscharfuhrer figure by Dragon. Love this brand, the details were great and assembly is fairly easy. The only comment I can give is there are some gaps on the arms and legs when assembled but I think its pretty standard for these types of kits and nothing putty cant fix. Like I said in my previous post, the goal here is to make it a cyborg-zombie looking soldier. I used mostly acylic paints as base coat for the uniform, skin and details. Followed by artists oils for blending. Still far from perfect but I really had fun doing this project and for sure this will not be my last figure build.

HG 1/144 RGM-79[G] GM Ground Type

Here's my latest build, actually a fun build. Also my contribution to Pla-zone's "Back to Basics" GB and will be donated/lend to Mechapinoy's kit pool project. This one is an old HG GM sniper which I poorly built & painted way back when I was new to the hobby. I decided to restore it since I dont want to see it just inside a box with other scraps and collecting dust. At the same time help the 2 communities with their respective projects. So about the build, as usual OOTB,  AB'ed with Gaianotes laquer paints (change the color scheme too), weathering was achieved using artist's oils and Tamiya weathering master (dusting on the feet & lower legs).

HGGS 1/144 Gunbarrel Striker

Here's the 2nd model kit of the 3 commissions I mentioned in my "Exass" post. Its a 1/144th scale Gunbarrel Striker from the Gundam Seed MSV series. Still out of the box, only the color was changed (originally orange and white). The client prefers a grayish - low visibilty scheme, but I find it a bit dull. So what I did was to mix some blue with the light gray so it wont be that boring. After market decals were also used for extra details.

EX Model Mobile Armor Exass

2nd kit for the year and 1st of the 3 commissions I signed up for. First attempt on an EX Model, and I really find it impressive with regards to the details and assembly. My only gripe is almost all the parts are system injected but nothing a good old masking cant do. The build is only OOTB, only pre-painting modifications were done.

Throne Eins

Been out of the modeling scene for quite sometime due to my spine injury. So here's an overdue kit which I finished a couple of months ago. Its a 1/144 HG Throne Eins from the 00 series. No extreme modifications were done. I just followed my old Throne Drei build, which involves extending the waist and neck, additional panel lines, rivet holes and pla strips for details. Only the Throne Zwei left and the Trinity is complete. :)

SD Gunner Zaku Warrior

Hello! This is my latest and probably last build for this year. Its an SD Gunner Zaku from the Seed Destiny series. Did kit for the annual Mechapinoy SD Con compe which is held during the Christmas party of the group. About the build, just my usual style or preference which is additional of panel lines (head, feet & skirts), also added a few rivet holes. And some Kotobukiya MSG's and styrene strips just to add a little bit more details. All painted with Gaianotes paints and oils.

Sangokuden Ryofu Tallgeese

Almost forgot to post this one. Anyway been finish with this little fella for quite sometime. Only out of the box, actually its not yet 100% done, there are still some details that needs painting but I was forced to submit this for a local compe due to lack of time. Maybe I'll try to really finish this one of these days. But for now this will do. :)

Trumpeter 1/35 M1134 Stryker ATGM

Here's my 1/35th scale Stryker ATGM from Trumpeter. Its an OOTB build. Painted with Gaianotes lacquer paints and weathered using oils and acrylics. I really wanted to apply more weathering to it but since this is my first modern AFV, I decided to play it safe and just apply a subtle filter and dusting on the lower half of the vehicle. Pardon me if its not that historically correct specially with regards to the stowage/equipments, cant find a decent reference photo of the "loaded" vehicle. As usual more photos at the main site.

NG 1/100 Tieren Ground Type

My latest build, a 1/100 Tieren Ground Type from the Gundam 00 series. Just an OOTB build. Painted with lacquer paints. Weathering (drybrush, pin wash, rust, chippings and filter) done with oil paints. Powdered pigments was also used for the dusting the feet and lover legs. The markings were masked then painted using lacquer. Very nice kit to own in my opinion, aside from the massive size, assembly is quite easy and minimal seam removal. Details are quite nice too especially when compared to the 1/144 counterpart.

Sangokuden Tyouhi Gundam

Photobucket

Hello! this is my Tyouhi Gundam from the Sangokuden series. Just a fun build and as usual OOTB. Im quite satisfied with the results, getting used to it again, building small SD's and masking which I believe needs some practice on my part. I used lacquer paints for my base and oils for the wash. Maybe next time I'll tackle a more challenging Sangokuden kit with much details on it.
